Students

Our academic programs include daily 55-minute blocks for literature, math, science and social studies, each taught through blended learning.

Blended learning combines traditional classroom instruction with digital instruction. Every day, students also participate in a 55 -minute period for related arts, and rotate every nine weeks between classes such as Spanish, physical education, STEAM, art and band.

GATE is a program that supports our gifted students, ensuring they are challenged as they learn.

Our students can earn high school credits through our Advanced Placement classes in the areas of Physical Science, Integrated Mathematics, and Spanish. if they qualify. Jere Baxter offers after school tutoring services to help support our students' academic progress; transportation is provided.

Jere Baxter Middle School Dress Code

The following guidelines will be effective for the 2024-2025 school year as they relate to the dress code. All students and parents are asked to adhere to these school policies as stated.

Shirts

Permitted
- Any shirt with a collar (turtlenecks included)
- T-Shirts
- Official Jere Baxter spirit wear (T-shirts, sports shirts)
Not Permitted
- Showing your midriff (stomach)
- Sheer, see-through shirts
- Crop tops
- Tank tops
- Political wear
- Logos, writing, or graphics that display inappropriate language or pictures that are not permitted at school or are deemed disruptive to the school environment.

Bottoms (pants or skirts)

Permitted
- Any color pants
- Jeans (denim)
- Must be worn at waist level
- Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be fingertip or longer than fingertips
- Leggings may be worn underneath appropriate length shorts, skirts, or dresses. Behind must be covered if wearing leggings
Not Permitted
- Pants with rips, tears, or sagging
- Tights, leggings, or jeggings worn as pants (okay under skirts or dresses that are fingertip length). Behind must be covered if wearing leggings.
- No spandex or tight one-piece jumpers or rompers

Outerwear

Permitted
- Sweaters
- Vests
- Lightweight jacket
- Hoodies
Not Permitted
- Heavy jackets, coats (must be secured in your locker upon arrival)
- Backpacks (must be secured in your locker upon arrival)

Miscellaneous

Permitted
- Shoes must have a closed back or rear strap
- Shoes should be safe and appropriate for school activities
- Small purse (composition book should fit inside)
- Religious head garments
Not Permitted
- Hats, hair scarves, hair bonnets
- Bandanas, sunglasses
- House shoes, slides, flip flops
- Tight fitting or revealing clothes
- Cell phones

Failure to adhere to the school policy will result in discipline as deemed necessary by school administration. This may include detention, ISS, or other disciplinary actions. The administration reserves the right to be the ultimate authority in deciding what constitutes appropriate school attire.
